Hotel Bell Stand: Van Reservation System Summer 2003: At The Statler Hotel at Cornell University all front office employees, including managers, may have a guest ask them to place a van reservation. The employees would use an expensive custom printed pad to record the request. After taking the time to write out the chit, the employee would then have to leave their post, walk to the bell-stand and transcribe the information into a large scheduling book. Often times employees would leave the chit on top of the book for the bell-staff to re-record. This lead to many missing chits and thus missed pick-ups. Seeing that all employees had computer access at any given moment, I decided to revamp the process and enable the same information to be transmitted to bell stand immediately via the intranet. This application uses a Microsoft Access Jet Database and VBA technology and is still in use today. | |
 | Cornell Hotel Society: Collegiate Chapter 2003: As Information Technology and Web-Marketing Director of the Cornell Hotel Society Collegiate Chapter, the president had called on me to brand the Collegiate Chapter and estabalish a new image on campus. I designed this logo which is still in use today. In addition, we sold business cards, with the Cornell logo on them, to 'Hotelies' in order to fund-raise for the organization. I developed a tracking database using Access in order to record the information. There was an export feature to Excel in order for the president to send the purchase request to the printer. |
